Worst Places to Get Illustrative Tattoos

06/23/2020

Illustrative tattoos combine various aspects of the American traditional culture and realism by using realistic shading and bold outlines to come up with illustration-like designs. While these tattoos can be drawn anywhere and backed up by touch-ups from time to time, it is best to keep your original tattoo in shape for as long as you can. That said, here are some of the places you should avoid for these tattoos.

Crease Lines

Any place where the skin is often bent and stretched should be avoided entirely, as it is difficult for tattoos to heal fast and properly. The tugging and pulling of the skin on the crease line results in cracking of your tattoo. This causes damage to the tattoo color and lines and also slows down the healing process. Additionally, the constant movement causes a tattoo to warp after healing due to stretching of the skin. The major crease lines to avoid include; knees, elbows, armpits, wrists, and other joints.

Abdomen

Often, it is not big a big deal if your abdomen tattoo stretches during pregnancy. While it is likely to bounce back to its original appearance, some degree of warping will be your collateral damage in case you want to have children. Unfortunately, even with constant moisturizing during pregnancy, your tattoo may blow up or become warped due to massive stretching thus requiring an extensive touch-up.

Fingers and Hands

While they are cute and easily noticeable, illustrative tattoos on fingers and hands tend to fade faster due to direct exposure to sunlight. Moreover, the constant washing of hands removes plenty of skin, making tattoos fade more quickly. No matter how many touch-up sessions you attend, your palm and finger tattoos do not look good for long.

Understanding the nature of your daily routine comes in handy in selecting illustrativetattoos that will serve you better for longer. Additionally, incorporating a care regimen with a good moisturizer and a tattoo specific sunblock will go a long way in keeping your tattoo in perfect shape.
